Season 4 Finals and Round Up!

Well, another awesome Grand Final day at South Fremantle, and a great finish to another fun filled WA Poker League Season!

Season 4 yet again saw some great competition, with the Season championships coming down to the line yet again! Congratulations to Pro Season Top 3 Players Colin Wilford (1st - $1000), Jonathan Pardede (2nd - $600), and Jason Bullock (3rd - $400)! Free League was also very tight, with Murray Boyne taking out top spot, followed closely by Matt Grace and Jill Maley! Well done!

The Grand Final Day was again a spectacular event, with another $40,000+ in the Pro League Prize Pool! With the new qualification requirements brought in this season, we knew the field would be slightly smaller since we weren't permitting non-reserve qualifiers to play. This may have meant a smaller turnout, but everyone agrees that it's for the best to ensure that future prize pools continue to be won by qualifiers!

The 159 runners in the Pro Grand Final were aiming at a Top 16 payout for the day! With 16th paying $487 and the prize money ramping up very quickly from there, there was always a lot at stake! Congratulations to all our winners, and especially the final 3, comprising David Mathieson in 3rd, winning $3,368! Barry Ward made 2nd place, taking home $6,087, and Gary Sims finished Barry off in a great Heads Up battle with Pocket Queens vs Pocket 9's. The ladies held, securing the first prize of $17,044 and of course the $5000 WAPL Grand Champion Medallion for Gary! Well done and a much deserved victory after scraping back from ~400 in chips!

Another great point to note was that our Grand Champion from Season 1, Robyn Ivankovich, made Final Table for the 2nd time at a WAPL Grand Final, finishing in 8th position and winning herself $1,339 in the process! So not only was Robyn the first person and first woman to win a WAPL Pro Final, she is now also the first person to make a Final Table twice at the Pro Finals! Well done Robyn!

Free League was no less competitive, even without all the money and prizes on the line! In what was a tense and exciting final table, we saw Patrick Beilby make 3rd place, and Aeree Mills vs Michael Reindl meet in heads up! With all the girls on her side, Aeree did a great job but couldn't quite beat Michael in the end! Congratulations Aeree on 2nd place and Michael for winning the Free League Grand Final!

We'd like to thank our Team for putting on yet another great Grand Final event and Season 4! We're sure you all agree with us!

Season 5 begins Monday 27th August! We look forward to continuing to bring you the best Poker tournaments!
