WAPL Team Challenge Results!
The individual placings for the Team Challenge are now up! You can find them through the Event Results section or go straight there via this link - http://wapokerleague.com.au/event_results.aspx?EventID=2369
Please note that the "Points" posted here are our standard Points allocation, whereas the points for this event were on a reversed scale. First out got 1 point, winner got 148.
Yes, that means we had 148 players! Congratulations and thanks to all who made it for this awesome night! We had lots of great reports and comments from those who showed up. We had 18 pre-registered teams, yet another 19 teams rocked up at registration, catching us by surprise and giving us a huge 37 team turnout!
All went well, with the 4 split sections hitting final tables at about the same time! The final 2 from each section combined to a final table (of which there were no two players from the same team), and continued to play for our winner. David O'Meara took out the event, winning the Individual winner's prize of a $50 Poker Den Voucher.
The big winners however were Team Dragon! HUGE congratulations to Charmaine, Peter, Richard and Mark for their great performance, just beating Spare Parts across the line for the win! With a team score of 453, vs Spare Parts 437, it was very close! For their win, Team Dragon took the $1184 prize, split 4 ways to $296 each! The Spare Parts got a carton of beer for 2nd place with which to drown their sorrows!
Of course, the other major prize for the night was for the Best Themed Team, and there was some fierce competition in this department! We had the Boat Crew, The Tigers, The Muppets, The Ladybirds, and the Swimmers from Holland in the race for best dressed! After a very long decision process, it was down to the Swimmers, the Tigers and The Ladybirds. The winners of the Best Themed Team went to The Ladybirds, comprising of Sarah, Eleanor, Michelle and Suz! They win an awesome Private Free Poker Tournament for 24 players of their choice at the Poker Den!
As always, it was a pleasure to host another awesome event for our members, and we must commend our staff for their great work on the night. It wasn't easy, especially with the huge influx of extra teams at the last minute (ps. please please please pre-register next time, it makes our lives so much easier), but our staff did an awesome job of keeping everything under control and giving everyone a great time!
Book in our next special event, Friday 28th March! This will be an individual event with a great new tournament structure which is sure to be lots of fun and something different! More details on this closer to the event...
Once again, congrats to all our winners, and we hope everyone had as good a night as we think and were told you did!
Your WA Poker League Team!
