Jeff Fenech Tournament a Knockout Night!

As the excited punters got down to the serious business of poker, Jeff Fenech made a grand entrance to great applause at the Paddington Alehouse. After wishing everyone well and magnaminously highlighting the efforts of his boxing protege's, Mr Fenech took his place at the tables and went on to show that he can fight pound for pound at the poker table just as much as in a ring.

From nearly 40 runners, Mr Fenech made final table with 7 others including WAPL regulars, international poker players and Perth celebrities. Spectators were able to watch the action, including the players' hands, live from a private room, with commentary from the table. Despite having a bounty placed on his head, Jeff managed to last until 5th place, whereupon Matthew Holmes took him out with A-K offsuit vs Jeff's K-Q of Hearts. Both hit their King on the flop, but the Ace high held to send Fenech to the ropes. Knocking Jeff Fenech out with one hand secured Matt 2 silver class tickets to the upcoming Wild West Boxing Series.

Matt went on to dominate the remaining 3 players, taking down Greg Hulshoff with pocket 8's vs Greg's A-10, then delivering Tezza Finger a haymaker with 7-2 offsuit. The final two consisted of Matthew and business heavyweight champ Tony Sage.

Dealer Jason Maley dealt a nailbiting and almost tragically painful final hand with Mr Sage all in with pocket Aces (Spade and Heart), being called by Matt with Q-7 of Spades. The flop showed 8-9-10 of spades, flopping Matt the flush with an open ended straight flush draw, and giving Tony the nut flush draw. The final blow was delivered with a Jack of spades on the turn, giving Tony the nut flush and Matt the unbeatable Straight Flush!

WA Poker League is very proud to have been given the opportunity to host this special event for Jeff Fenech. The WAPL Team was delighted to see that all participants walked away with not only an autographed glove, but a memorable night of poker and fun!
